#i just have so many feelings about the hand holding gif #like there are so many important things about the film packed into that moment #like the fact that the kids holding hands are not american but probably from the phillipnes #like the fact that these kids are looking at the destruction of manila instead of san fran #like the fact that this entire film decenters the west and western politics and bravado #like the fact that thE ONLY AMERICAN IN THE FILM has to unlearn his cowboy attitude #and begisn to recognize and respect the authority figures around him that are not american #like the fact that this film is not just about humanity but about a part of humanity western cinema habitually ignores #that moment is not about ra ra ra humanity i mean it IS but its so MUCH MORE LAYERED THAN THAT #this movie is so much more layered than that#can youtell i feel a lot of things about this movie #and not all of them are sex
